Sean Rodriguez undergoes shoulder surgery

The Atlanta Braves announced on Wednesday that Sean Rodriguez underwent shoulder surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn rotator cuff in his left shoulder. The operation was performed by famed orthopedist Dr. James Andrews in Gulf Springs, Florida.

Rodriguez suffered the injury in an automobile accident on January 28. The Braves did not release any timetable for how long Rodriguez is expected to be out. Fox Sports Ken Rosenthal originally reported that the injury could keep Rodriguez out for 3-5 months. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s David O’Brien followed up with a report that Rodriguez could miss the entire season.
