Rio Ruiz came to spring training trying to win a big league roster spot. While the Braves have decided to go with Adonis Garcia at third to open the season -- and start Ruiz in Triple-A Gwinnett -- that didn’t stop Rio from having a big spring.
Some scouts are calling third baseman Rio Ruiz the “most improved” player they’ve seen this spring.
That should be music to the Braves’ ears, especially with Garcia, 32, presenting little upside and a low floor at third.
Ruiz is just 22 years old (he’ll turn 23 in May) and could benefit from more seasoning in the minors.
