ATLANTA -- The Braves, trying to protect and improve their young bullpen, can't afford to see the extension of a trend that continued when a cramp forced an early exit for Anibal Sanchez in Tuesday night's 5-3 loss to the Reds at SunTrust Park.
Sanchez left with a right calf cramp shortly after allowing Scott Schebler's go-ahead double in the fifth. The veteran right-hander was charged with two runs over 4 2/3 innings, becoming the fourth straight Braves starter to complete five frames or fewer.
Called up from Triple-A Gwinnett earlier in the day, Matt Wisler allowed one run over 2 1/3 innings to prevent the bullpen from being further taxed.
