ATLANTA -- Anibal Sanchez seemed like a low-risk option when he joined the Braves near the end of Spring Training and seemingly stood as a short-term option to fill the rotation's fifth spot. Two and a half months into the season, the rejuvenated right-hander has created what is often considered a good problem.
Sanchez extended his unexpected run of success, and an unusual replay review involving Tyler Flowers proved significant as the Braves held on to claim a 4-2 win over the Padres on Thursday night at SunTrust Park.
Flowers seemed surprised when home-plate umpire Mark Ripperger ruled Tyson Ross' 1-0 fastball nicked the Braves catcher's hand to begin the bottom of the seventh.
