The Padres have a managerial opening, having relieved erstwhile skipper Jayce Tingler of his duties following a disappointing campaign where the Padres, who were supposed to be one of the National League’s premier clubs, ended up being anything but and missed the playoffs altogether. Ron Washington’s name has come up repeatedly in discussions of potential candidates to fill Tingler’s seat, and well, he “remains a possibility” for the opening, per Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Of course, Washington can’t be interviewed until after the Braves are done with their season, so it’s not clear how much traction his candidacy really has at this point.
