The Toronto Blue Jays agreed to trade infielder Eric Sogard to the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday for a player to be named later, according to multiple reports.
The deal is pending completion of a physical for the 33-year-old Sogard, who was scratched from the Blue Jays' lineup just before Sunday afternoon's game against the visiting Rays.
Sogard is having the best year of his nine-year career, batting .300 with a career-high 10 homers and 30 RBIs in 73 games.
He has started games this season at second base, shortstop, third base, right field, left field and as the designated hitter.
