The Texas Rangers have added another starting pitcher, signing Shelby Miller on a one-year deal on Wednesday.
Miller, a native of Brownwood, Texas, which is about three hours southwest of Dallas, was drafted in the first-round by the St Louis Cardinals in 2009.
The Rangers passed on Miller with the 14th pick in that draft but reportedly scouted him heavily leading up to the event.
Miller burst onto the scene as a rookie in 2013, posting a 15-9 record with a 3.06 ERA and finishing third in the National League Rookie of the Year voting.
He was eventually traded to the Atlanta Braves before the 2015 season and again to the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2016.
