ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- The Texas Rangers have agreed to terms on a $3.1 million contract with right-hander Tom Wilhelmsen to avoid salary arbitration.
Wilhelmsen's deal was announced Wednesday, when the Rangers also signed infielder Pedro Ciriaco to a minor-league contract with an invitation to major league spring training.
Texas acquired Wilhelmsen from Seattle in a trade on Nov. 16. He was 2-2 with 13 saves and a 3.19 ERA in 53 appearances for the Mariners last season.
Six Rangers are still eligible for salary arbitration: catcher Robinson Chirinos, left-hander Jake Diekman, first baseman Mitch Moreland, infielder Jurickson Profar, and right-handers Tanner Scheppers and Shawn Tolleson.
