The Braves continue to put together a season of streaks: aside from a couple of instances against the Mets, they’ve mostly followed up wins with wins and losses with losses. Right now, they hold a modest two-game winning streak courtesy of wins in the first two games of this weekend series with the Marlins, and they’ll try to extend it to three wins this afternoon.
This start was scheduled to go for Wei-Yin Chen of the Marlins, but he’s been out since May 5 with an issue with his throwing elbow. Chen has pitched through a partially-torn UCL since late last season, and there’s no current timetable for his return as he works through elbow pain and fatigue.
