Pirates suffer first loss of the spring

BRADENTON, Pa. – The Atlanta Braves scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to edge the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1 Tuesday afternoon during Grapefruit League action at LECOM Park.

Pittsburgh fell to 2-1.

Atlanta (1-2) scored on RBI singles from former Pirates Jake Marisnick and Bryan De La Cruz.

Pittsburgh tallied its run on Joey Bart's RBI groundout that scored Bryan Reynolds, who doubled.

The Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes was 2-for-2, and D.J. Stewart doubled. Oneil Cruz and Hayes each stole a base.

Pittsburgh right-hander Jared Jones tossed two shutout innings, striking out three batters and walking one.
