Padres executive takes shots at Matt Kemp and James Shields (Big League Stew)

San Diego Padres executive chairman and co-owner Ron Fowler is not one to mince words. He proved as much back in June, when he referred to the club as “miserable failures.”

While some would back off and shy away from making bold statements, Fowler doubled-down on his comments during a “town hall” meeting with season ticket holders Wednesday. He also took it as an opportunity to let the fans know the club wasn’t going to tolerate high-priced players who didn’t produce, according to Bryce Miller of the San Diego Union-Tribune.

“I’ll be damned if we’re going to pay high-priced talent to sit on their butts and not perform,” Fowler said.
