August had been a forgettable month for the ’69 Braves. It was their only month with a losing record en route to their first playoff berth since the move from Milwaukee.
It was an especially difficult month for third baseman Clete Boyer, who hit .204 with only four extra base hits. He stepped to the plate on Sunday, August 31 mired in a 1-for-17 slump when Morganna, aka the Kissing Bandit, made one of her first known appearances on a big league field. After getting a kiss from the busty blond, Boyer delivered an RBI single. He proceeded to get seven hits in his next 14 ABs.
