Fredi’s limitations as a manager were on full display in the 10th inning yesterday when, with Donaldson, Bautista and Encarnacion due up, he called on Sugar Ray Marimon to pitch. When asked why not bring in Cody Martin, he said he hasn’t thrown in back-to-back games. Okay, well that’s going to have to change if he’s pitching in relief.
The better question: Why not pitch Jason Grilli, your best reliever, against the meat of the Toronto line-up? We know the answer to that one, but it’s not a good one. Fredi ain’t going to change, and, according to Jon Heyman, the Braves are unlikely to change managers.
