The Braves’ backups defeated Aaron Nola last weekend. On Saturday night, he was able to get some small measure of revenge, shutting out Atlanta’s bats for seven innings and preventing them from grabbing their 91st win of the season.
Much of this game featured Anibal Sanchez and Aaron Nola trading zeroes. The Braves had some luck with leadoff batters, but no real success elsewise. Ronald Acuña Jr. led off the game with a single, but Freddie Freeman ended the inning by hitting into a double play. The Braves drew two consecutive walks to lead off the second, but Nola worked his way out of trouble by striking out Ozzie Albies with one out and a runner on third, and then struck out Anibal Sanchez to complete his Harry Houdini act.
