Let’s just face it, the Braves have looked pretty terrible on the offensive side (save Ronald Acuña’s outburst) against the Mets, but where they’re really failing is on the pitching side after three great series by the starting staff.
Sean Newcomb will look to end that streak today when he faces off against Jason Vargas. Newcomb has been really good in his career against the Mets, posting a 1.82 ERA over three starts last season. Most importantly look for Newcomb to have success against a very heavy left handed lineup.
This matchup bodes well for the Braves as Acuña continues to be red hot and has had good success in the past against Vargas (5-8 with a triple and homer).
