MLBPA reportedly approves expanded playoff proposal

Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reported that the MLBPA has agreed to a proposal for expanding the playoffs for the 2020 season.

The union has approved the agreement discussed with MLB for expanded playoffs, only for the 2020 postseason; that agreement is now subject only to ratification by the owners, sources tell ESPN. https://t.co/HFmaEQ8Npk

Joel Sherman of the New York Post added that the pool will expand from 10 to 16 under this proposal. This is likely an attempt to compensate for the high potential variance that is the result of the heavily shortened 60 game season.
