Mike Soroka, who was originally scheduled to pitch on Wednesday in Kansas City, will have his start pushed back to the final day of the regular season on Sunday. Josh Tomlin will start in Soroka’s place against the Royals.
The bigger impact of this, of course, is Soroka is now likely to pitch Game 3 of the NLDS on the road against (very likely) the St. Louis Cardinals. It was reported earlier today that Soroka was on track to pitch the third game of the NLDS, which won’t be played until Sunday, October 6th. That would give the 22-year-old righty two extra days of rest and mean Dallas Keuchel and Mike Foltynewicz would start Game 1 and 2 of the series at SunTrust Park.
