The Mets have signed catcher Tomas Nido to a two-year contract, covering his remaining arbitration-eligible years.

Per FanSided’s Robert Murray, the deal is worth $3.7 million and will pay Nido $1.6 million this season and $2.1 million in 2024.

The 28-year-old backstop saw the most playing time in his career in 2022. He started a career-high 98 games behind the plate, and while he’s known more for his defense and pitch-calling, Nido had a decent year, slashing .239/.276/.324 with three homers and a career-best 28 RBI.

The Mets' catching situation will look different in 2023, with the club trading James McCann to the Baltimore Orioles and adding veteran Omar Narvaez on a one-year deal.
