ATLANTA (AP) -- New York Mets catcher Travis d'Arnaud hurt his left elbow and left Saturday night's game against the Atlanta Braves after being knocked to the ground in a collision at home plate.
The collision occurred in the sixth inning as Atlanta's A.J. Pierzynski scored from third on pinch-hitter Pedro Ciriaco's fly ball to left field. As Pierzynski ran to the plate without a slide, his left leg appeared to hit d'Arnaud's left arm as the catcher dropped the throw, giving Atlanta a 5-4 lead. The contact knocked d'Arnaud to the ground.
