A playoff spot is on the line
By going 6-1 on their just-completed homestand, including taking three of four from the Phillies over the weekend, the Mets will enter Tuesday's series-opener with a two-game lead over the Braves for the final Wild Card spot in the National League.
And while the Mets are looking to fend off the Braves, they're also competing with the Diamondbacks for the second Wild Card spot (more on that in a bit).
