COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The name of the new Columbus Double-A Atlanta Braves franchise is just peachy. Sort of.
At an Uptown Columbus concert Friday night, Diamond Baseball Holdings, the owner operator of the team, revealed the new name – Columbus Clingstones.
What’s a Clingstone could be your first question.
Clingstones are the first peaches of the season to be harvested, according to the Dickey Farms website. They typically ripen around the second week of May. Clingstone peaches have flesh that is attached, or ‘clings’ to the pit of the peach. They have a yellow flesh with splashes of red, are usually a little bit smaller but very sweet.
