Atlanta Braves left-hander Max Fried was named National League Pitcher of the Month for September Monday by Major League Baseball. Fried recorded a 1.54 ERA along with a 2.88 FIP and held opponents to a .490 OPS through six September starts.
Fried is the first Braves pitcher since Kris Medlen in 2013 to take home a Pitcher of the Month honor. His season got off to a tough start as he was tagged for 14 earned runs over his first 11 innings of the injury. To add insult to injury, Fried suffered a hamstring injury while running the bases on April 13 against the Marlins.
