Mariners claim David Freitas off waivers from Braves

The World Series is still going on and the Front Office situation for the Braves remains in limbo, but the 40-man roster keeps evolving. Or, well, shrinking, to be more exact.

After Micah Johnson was claimed yesterday by the Cincinnati Reds, today it was the Seattle Mariners’ turn to pilfer the Braves’ 40-man roster.

The 28-year-old Freitas is a longtime minor league veteran, drafted all the way back in 2010. After bouncing around numerous minor league systems, the Braves were the fifth organization to take a chance on him, signing him to a minor league deal last November.
