For the first time in half a decade, it appeared as though that the Braves could have been in line for a different Opening Day starter. With Julio Teheran, despite his five straight Opening Day starts and longer tenure, seeing his stuff diminished and seeing his playing time disappear in the playoffs, it looked as though that honor was going to be passed down to Mike Foltynewicz to open the 2019 season.
Unfortunately, Folty has been dealing with bone spurs in his elbow and as a result, he will not be ready to throw by Opening Day.
