The Mets closed out the regular season with a 3-0 loss to the Atlanta Braves in Game 2 of a doubleheader on Monday afternoon at Truist Park.
Here are some takeaways...
- Having already clinched their spot in the playoffs in Game 1, the Mets called up Joey Lucchesi to eat innings during the nightcap and he did his job. The southpaw threw 111 pitches across six strong innings, allowing just one run on three hits while walking four and striking out five. Even after putting together a rough season down in Triple-A, Lucchesi came up and provided the Mets with the exact effort they needed.
