Jorge Soler dropped the first bomb. He hit the third pitch of the 2021 World Series over the center field fence in Houston and the soon-to-be World Champion Atlanta Braves were on their way.
Soler was in the game as the Braves’ designated hitter. Very few National League hitters have ever excelled in that role but Soler was demonstrating the fact that it was possible. The National League champions were getting ready to beat the American League champions at their own game.
Over the years the existence of a DH has been a huge advantage for AL teams in interleague play, including the World Series.
