I’m not going to bury the lede on you. No, there’s not a 40-man crunch. With the rebuilding process of collecting as many pitching prospects or injured former prospects, there have continually been situations where the Braves have had too many players for their 40-man, hence the “crunch”. But as it’s played out, there hasn’t been a scenario where anyone victim of said “crunch” has been “lost” to another team. In the quantity-over-quality approach to collecting players, we seem to consistently have 5-10 players on the back of our 40-man that are almost indistinguishable from each other, and other teams have agreed.
