On December 16, 2017, the Braves and Dodgers completed a trade that I described as “a clear salary dump for both teams.” After all, we were heading into the 2018 season instead of the 2012 season and that meant that a trade involving the likes of Adrian Gonzalez, Scott Kazmir, Brandon McCarthy and Matt Kemp wasn’t going to make too many waves across the baseball sea. It sure seemed like this was Alex Anthopoulos using his familiar ties with the Dodgers organization to swing a deal that helped both organizations in a utilitarian way.
