On Monday night, two teams vying to be in the National League playoff picture meet up for the first of three down in the Dirty South. Both teams are coming off rough losses, and look to get back on the right track.
The NL East-leading New York Mets were one of the hottest teams in baseball heading into the past weekend, as they had won seven straight. However, their trip to Florida did not end well, as they were throttled in a three-game sweep at the hands of the Tampa Bay Rays, outscored 22-8.
While they have some big hitters in their lineup, including first basemen Pete Alonso, it is New York’s pitching that has been their strong suit.
