ATLANTA - Elly De La Cruz's first-inning triple not only helped make the Cincinnati Reds winners against the Atlanta Braves on Monday night.
It also made MLB history.
The triple in his 198th career game was the 80th extra-base of De La Cruz's career. He also has 84 stolen bases and 83 walks.
No other major leaguer since at least 1900 racked up totals of 80 in all three categories in his first 200 games, according to Elias Sports Bureau.
A first-time All-Star this year, De La Cruz went 2-for-4 (also an infield single) with a walk and his MLB-leading 49th steal of the season in Monday's series-opening 4-1 victory over the Braves.
