The Gwinnett Braves are looking to change their name for the 2018 season. The Gwinnett Daily Post reports that the team will soon announce a contest for fans to help determine the team’s new name going forward. Per the report, voting will open on Monday and will remain open until June 2.
Gwinnett General Manager says that his desire for a name change is so that the Triple-A club can distinguish itself from the Major League club.
“The Atlanta Braves are still currently the only major league team that owns the majority of their minor league teams and a major part of the Braves footprint and the Braves expanding their brand throughout the Southeast is to continue to have minor league teams use the Braves name,” Johnson said.
