The Giants swung a trade Monday, sending reliever Jay Jackson to the Atlanta Braves for cash considerations and a possible player to be named later.
Jackson was designated for assignment by the Giants on Friday to clear a spot for additions to the 40-man roster. President of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi said that move was “tough” and the Giants got “pretty significant” trade interest in the right-hander.
“He was a guy we would have liked to hold onto,” Zaidi said. “But in the bullpen we just feel like that’s an area of depth for our team.
