WASHINGTON -- A long day began inauspiciously for the Braves, when Max Fried was forced to exit after completing just two innings in Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Nationals at Nationals Park.
Fried exited after getting hit in the left hip with Spencer Kieboom's 104.4-mph line drive. The left-hander grabbed the ball, threw to first to record the inning's final out and then walked toward the dugout under his own power.
Kolby Allard took the mound for the Braves in the third inning.
