ATLANTA -- Freddie Freeman can now lay claim to being the only player in Atlanta Braves history to reach safely in 12 consecutive plate appearances.
Freeman set the Atlanta record when he hit a solo home run off Joe Ross during the third inning of Wednesday night's game against the Nationals at SunTrust Park. The first baseman's record-setting shot traveled an estimated 420 feet with a 102-mph exit velocity, per Statcast™, and landed in the water beyond the center-field wall.
Freeman's streak ended when he grounded out in the sixth inning.
