Freddie Freeman, Julio Urias among Dodgers’ MLB awards finalists

Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman and pitcher Julio Urias were named finalists for MLB Players’ Choice Awards on Thursday, and Freeman was one of six Dodgers who were named finalists for Silver Slugger Awards.

Freeman is a contender for the National League Outstanding Player Award, along with St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt and Atlanta Braves third baseman Austin Riley.

In his first season with the Dodgers, the 33-year-old Freeman slashed .325/.407/.511 with 47 doubles and 21 home runs among his MLB-high 199 hits. He had 100 RBIs and his on-base percentage and runs scored (117) led the NL.
