What appeared to be a random day off for Freddie Freeman was apparently much more. Freeman was unavailable on Sunday after receiving a painkiller injection in his middle finger on his right hand according to a report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Michael Cunningham.
Freeman says that he has been dealing with pain in the finger since spring training and that the shot usually requires a 48-hour recovery period. He hopes to be back in the lineup on Monday.
“It’s been hurting since spring training,” Freeman said. “I’ve been grinding it out. I got a shot during the All-Star game as well.
