If all goes well, Freddie Freeman could be back in the Atlanta Braves lineup as soon as July 9 against the Washington Nationals. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's David O'Brien reports that Freeman will take part in live batting practice Wednesday in San Diego and if all goes well will begin a rehab assignment on Saturday with Gwinnett.
Freeman was originally expected to miss at least 10 weeks with his fractured left wrist. Barring a setback Freeman will be back in just over seven.
O'Brien also reports that when Freeman does return he will do so as the team's third baseman.
