It looked like the New York Mets were headed to the playoffs. And then it didn't. And then it did again.
And now they most certainly are after completing a thrilling, back-and-forth 8-7 victory over the Atlanta Braves in the first game of a doubleheader in Atlanta on Monday.
The Mets took the lead on a two-run home run by Francisco Lindor in the top of the ninth inning that negated a blown save by closer Edwin Diaz.
Trailing 3-0 entering the top of the eighth inning, the Mets scored six runs, capped on a two-run home run by Brandon Nimmo to take a 6-3 lead.
