It’s no secret that the Braves are seeking to add a big bat to their offense to fill in the spot in the order behind MVP Freddie Freeman that was occupied by Marcell Ozuna in 2020, and Josh Donaldson before him. While Atlanta has been expected to pursue extending Ozuna, this front office’s reluctance to give big multi-year deals to players combined with what should be a fairly competitive bidding war for his services makes it far from a certainty and perhaps even unlikely that Ozuna will indeed be back in Atlanta for 2021. Ken Rosenthal’s report from Monday morning that the league has told teams to assume that there will not be a DH in the National League in 2021 makes an Ozuna return to Atlanta even less likely.
