As if this weird 2020 season needed any more wrinkles to make it even weirder, MLB and the MLBPA got together to ensure that things would indeed get even weirder. After spending months having a long and drawn-out labor battle just to get this season underway, the players and the owners engaged in warp-speed negotiations in order to come to an agreement to expand the postseason for the 2020 season.
In exchange for expanding the playoff field from 10 teams to 16, the players will be receiving $50 million in addition to what they’re going to get for this season.
