NEW YORK - The Phillies moved into sole possession of first place in the National League East on Tuesday night thanks to a couple of guys from the Dominican Republic, one who recently arrived in a trade, the other who could soon exit via a trade.
Enyel De Los Santos pitched well in his big-league debut and sizzling Maikel Franco drove in four runs to lead a 7-3 win over the New York Mets at Citi Field (see first take).
With the win, the Phils moved a game ahead of the Atlanta Braves in the division.
