This past offseason the Braves underwent a managerial hiring process that saw them interview a number of candidates, with three final possibilities remaining at the end of those proceedings. The first, returning manager Brian Snitker, was the incumbent and was eventually given the job after his first taste of managerial experience at the major league level. The second, former Rangers manager Ron Washington, was hired as third base coach, which amounted to a lateral move as he was already occupying that post in Oakland. The third candidate was former Padres manager Bud Black, who would go on to take the managerial job in Colorado after being spurned by the Braves.
