Eight months after the deal was finalized to move the Atlanta Braves’ Double-A Minor League Baseball affiliate from Mississippi to Columbus, the franchise owner is set to reveal the team’s new name, colors, logo and mascot.
New York-based Diamond Baseball Holdings, which owns and operates 34 minor league teams, including all the Braves affiliates, is scheduled to announce the news Friday at 7:15 p.m., during the first edition of this season’s Uptown Columbus Friday Night Concert Series in the 1000 block of Broadway. Admission is free.
“We are incredibly excited to be partnering with Uptown Columbus on this historic event in Columbus baseball history,” Pete Laven, the team’s general manager, said in a news release.
