It is not a terrible surprise given the situation but the Atlanta Braves will be without utility man Charlie Culberson for the remainder of the season. Brian Snitker broke the news during Sunday’s postgame press session following the Braves’ loss to the Nationals.
Culberson has multiple facial fractures but none were displaced and surgery won’t be necessary. That in itself is good news and probably the best case scenario given how ugly Culberson’s injury was.
The Braves have clinched their spot in the postseason and are closing in on another NL East title. However, their depth has taken a significant hit with the loss of Johan Camargo and now Culberson.
