The list of candidates for the Atlanta Braves bullpen has lost another name, as right hander Carlos Torres elected to opt out of his contract and become a free agent on Thursday.
Torres came to the Braves for Spring Training with the hope of making the roster after clearing waivers with the New York Mets and choosing to become a free agent early last month.
The righty pitched in eight Grapefruit League games this spring, hurling nine innings and allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits, with five walks and six strikeouts.
