Brewers quiet on trade deadline day, yet still accomplished what they wanted

The Milwaukee Brewers were one of only three teams in the major leagues to not consummate a trade on a wild deadline day Tuesday, joining their opponent at American Family Field – the Atlanta Braves – and the Colorado Rockies.

But that's not to say they weren't able to bolster a team that holds a seven-game lead in the National League Central Division standings.

Far from it, in fact.

The Brewers' machinations actually began on July 3, when general manager Matt Arnold beat the rush by acquiring right-handed starter Aaron Civale from the Tampa Bay Rays.
