The Atlanta Braves are close to signing third baseman Josh Donaldson to a one year deal, according to multiple reports. Steve Phillips of MLB Network was the first to report a deal was close. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic says it is a one-year deal worth $23 million.
The Braves are yet to officially announce the deal.
Donaldson, who will turn 33 next month, was one of the game’s best third baseman from 2013-2017 before an injury-filled 2018 brought his free agent value crashing down. He hit .246/.352/.449 with a 117 wRC+ across 219 plate appearances with Toronto and Cleveland.
