The Atlanta Braves turned in a sloppy performance in a 6-4 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates Saturday night.
Things started well enough for Atlanta and pitcher R.A. Dickey who helped his own cause with a two-run single in the second inning to give the Braves a 2-0 lead. The Pirates quickly answered back in the bottom half of the inning thanks to some shaky defense by Atlanta.
Jordy Mercer singled home Gregory Polanco for the Pirates first run. Pittsburgh tied the game one batter later as Freddie Freeman couldn’t haul in an errant throw by third baseman Adonis Garcia on a slow roller off the bat of pitcher Chad Kuhl.
