Braves RHP Mike Soroka set for second Achilles procedure

Field Level Media

Mike Soroka's injury woes remain ongoing as the Atlanta Braves right-hander will need exploratory surgery on his previously torn Achilles tendon.

Soroka has not pitched since August when he originally injured his Achilles in an outing against the New York Mets. He had surgery in 2020 to repair the tear.

As the 2019 All-Star was progressing toward a return this spring, he came away with right shoulder inflammation. With the shoulder issue behind him, Soroka had a setback with his Achilles serious enough to necessitate an MRI exam this week.

"I think just moving around and then just talking to him, he could just tell that something wasn't right," Braves manager Brian Snitker said.
