Braves Reliever David Carpenter Designated For Assignment

The Braves have designated reliever David Carpenter for assignment, tweets David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution. Carpenter, 27, was recalled in early July and made four appearances for the Braves. The soft-tossing righty posted a 7.36 ERA in three and two-thirds innings with 12.27 K/9, no walks, and two home runs allowed. In 37 innings at Triple-A, he managed a 0.73 ERA with 8.76 K/9 and 3.65 BB/9.
